The Crops
The Fontana road is surrounded by a unique area, protected by an amphitheater of hills that differ from each other in terms of exposure, microclimate, and soil type.
The cultivated land is divided into several levels, separated by terraces, connected by stone steps and pathways.
The types of crops that can be grown in this area of Bergamo are numerous and diverse, but always on a small scale, especially due to the challenging layout of the steep terrain.
Indeed, cultivating sloped land is not easy, but it offers special sensations and landscapes of exceptional beauty, especially at sunset.
The flat areas of about one hectare are designated as paddocks for our horses and surround the large 17th-century villa.
With the support of expert agronomists, we have selected numerous varieties of fruits and vegetables to ensure not only biodiversity but also to discover the multitude of flavors that nature provides. To preserve the surrounding ecosystem and the beauty of the ancient property, we have chosen a system with the least possible impact, favoring varieties with reduced vertical growth and a natural grass underlay, which is periodically mowed and used as forage.
The property is completed by an olive grove in Sardinia, located in Nurachi, between the Cabras lagoon and the sea on the island’s western coast. From this grove, we produce a high-quality, entirely genuine olive oil, obtained from olives grown naturally, hand-picked, and immediately cold-pressed using an exclusively mechanical method.
KAISER FARM
A 100% Organic Farm
Our crops and processing methods are entirely manual, without the use of machinery or pesticides. We rely exclusively on natural farming techniques, strictly avoiding GMOs, chemical pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we promote crop rotation which, unlike monoculture, preserves soil health and protects the environment. Plants learn to defend themselves naturally, becoming more resilient to various threats. Only in specific cases do we use plant- and mineral-based preparations permitted in organic farming.
Organic farming is a safe and controlled practice, subject to continuous inspections by certification bodies authorized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies.
In the organic supply chain, strict controls apply to both the production process and the final processed product.
Thanks to the cultivation techniques we adopt, organic products have a higher nutritional value and superior organoleptic qualities compared to conventional ones.
Every day, we hand-harvest vegetables, fruits, aromatic and medicinal herbs, always respecting the balsamic time of each plant.
Immediately after harvest, the raw materials are processed by hand using traditional methods, without any form of refinement, and the aromatic herbs and edible flowers are carefully dried.
